Netflix Looks to Foster the Growth of Animation in Japan

As the demand for animation and entertainment increases the amount of work and opportunities we’re currently experiencing! Netflix has identified a shortage of animators in Japan and wants to change that!  They have created Wit Animator Academy, a way for students who apply to this and get accepted into this would study the art and work on and learn from Tokyo’s Wit Studio (Attack on Titan) and Sasayuri Video Training Institute. There are some specific requirements to attend though! The first-ever Wit Animator Academy will last six months, starting in April. It is available for high school graduates aged 25 or under. Participants must be in Tokyo and able to speak conversational Japanese, but don’t have to be Japanese citizens. Netflix has agreed to financially support the ten or so successful applicants’ tuition feeds and contribute a certain amount toward living costs.
