Pixar’s newest animated feature, Soul, premiered in China last week, grossing over $13 million during its 2nd week. Compared to its competition, this puts Soul squarely in fourth place in the box office, with the first three spots being taken by local films. Despite this, Soul over takes Studio Ghibli’s 2008 animated film, Ponyo, by a wide margin, releasing last weekend with only a little over $1 million.
